Warmth of Japanese Wood Prints

[Archived in Entry]

[ColumnNetwork.org] This exhibition reviews the history of Japanese wood prints from the Meiji era to the post Second World War. On show are works from the permanent collection of the museum as well as prints loaned from other museums. Special focus is placed on artists who produced the “warm” prints, such as Sumio Kawakami, Shikoh Munakata and Koshiro Onchi.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[The Italian-American Princess] Retro-licious and Delicious: I had to order a Shirley Temple, after playing Pac-Man and realizing that my shoes would have been right at home in the 1980s. Retro shoes, retro decor, retro video games, and a drink straight out of my childhood. At these hibachi steakhouses, the chef prepares the food right at your table, and ours set up a "big fire" (his words; he grinned sheepishly before he did it) on the table by pouring cooking oil onto the clean cooking surface and setting it ablaze. He then grinned at us, then made a volcano out of stacked onion slices and more cooking oil.

[Hiromi Nakazawa] vegetable and museum: I guess they want to see Impressionist works……so Japanese…J/K. I led a tour for the college students when I was TA for art history courses. It was fun because I was in total control as far as which piece we should discuss. I don’t know this time though.
