Printing: DIY Bookbinding

[Archived in Entry]

[StreetRes] A step by step guide to binding your own comics and/or zines

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

http://themusicissue.blogspot.com [the music issue] zines: books about them as they become obsolete: Just saw a post about the book DIY: The Rise of Lo-fi Culture by Amy Spencer. It looks promising - ahh, summer reading! I wish more stuff like this had been around when I did my undergrad thesis on DIY publishing - the only text I knew at the time was Stephen Duncombe's "Zines," which is a great book, but not broadly historical.

[Nycgrassrootsmedia.org] DIY Workshop Descriptions: This workshop will focus on zines as alternative DIY media. ... This workshop will teach participants how to build their own blog. ...

http://www.sfzinefest.com [Sfzinefest.com] Saturday: But that doesn't mean they should vanish as soon as they leave Kinko's either. This workshop explores methods by which zines can have reputations, impact and success that outlives their first printing. If you think zines aren't just temporary, aren't just throwaway, if you think they have meaning and importance for both zinesters and readers, then this workshop is for you.

[Chaosgeneration.com] Chaos Generation Weblog: They'll be over 15 bands performing and the following workshops/forums will take place at the festival. They'll also be heaps of zines available at the Zine Fair. Jyoti - photographed further below at the Newtown Festival can be contacted for more info about getting a zine table there or for info about getting your zine distributed at the festival. Sounds like it's going be a great event to go to!

http://www.pdxzines.com [Pdxzines.com] Schedule ~ 2001 PZS Archives: Indymedia 101 - Ayleen and others from Portland Indymedia will talk about the global media activist network that is indymedia, how indymedia is similar to (or an extension of) zines, and how to get involved with indymedia. A great workshop for anyone curious about indymedia or who is looking to get involved as a photographer, writer, reporter or web designer.
