New Epson Stylus Photo R2400

[Archived in Entry, Epson]

[SB Industry News] The Epson UltraChrome K3 ink set is a unique eight-color system designed specifically for professional and fine art photographers and digital artists who seek exhibit-level photo quality. Inspired by Epson's past generations of pigmented inks, Epson UltraChrome K3 uses higher density pigments to widen the color gamut. In addition to cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta, UltraChrome K3 features a special three-level black ink system that simultaneously uses black, light black and light-light black to create professional neutral and toned black and white prints from a single ink set.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

http://s2arts.blogspot.com [s2art muses on photography mainly.] Fay Godwinn 1931-2005: At the moment I'm still waiting for more detailed reviews from printers, especially those with experience of current high performance black and white printing systems, such as the Cone Editions iQuads and Peizotone inks, and software RIPS such as Roy Harrington's QuadTone RIP or the Bowhaus IJC/OPM used with inks such as the Piezotones or MIS inks. One advantage of the Epson 2400 (and other printers using the new UCK3 inks is the ability to use the same printer for gloss and matte black and white prints as well as colour.

PhotographyBLOG was there to take a sneak peak at the new inkset and printers that Epson hope professional photographers will be using from June onwards. I’ve patiently been sitting on the news for the last month due to a very long embargo date, so without further ado, here is a gallery of photos from the press launch.

Photographyblog.comhttp://www.photographyblog.com [Photographyblog.com] Epson UltraChrome K3 Announced - PhotographyBLOG: Marc Tinkler, Marketing Manager, Pro Graphics, Epson Europe, said, “Until now, professional photographers, artists, as well as professionals in the proofing market have demanded greater control and consistency. Despite many satisfied photographers and artists, some have been hesitant to adopt the digital format for high-end colour and black & white photography because of the compromise in quality. Epson’s UltraChrome K3 ink technology promises to revolutionise the photographic industry by offering them the ultimate black & white, and colour printing solution, as well as greater control and consistency for proofing.”

Photographyblog.comhttp://www.photographyblog.com [Photographyblog.com] Epson Ultrachrome K3 Ink Offers 325 Year Lifespan - PhotographyBLOG: Last week Epson announced 7 new printers, all featuring a new inkset called Ultrachrome K3. This week, the completely independent body Wilhelm Imaging Research tell us that black and white prints from the large format Stylus Pro 9800 printer have a lifespan of 325 years under glass on Epson Enhanced Matte - yes, that’s right, 325 years! Apparently the three black inks that the 9800 uses (and all the other printers that use the K3 ink) are extremely stable carbon pigments, resulting in the dramatic increase in longevity. You don’t have to pay thousands to get this level of performance either - the £600 A3+ sized R2400 uses exactly the same inkset as the larger models.
