Macworld: News: Epson hits another ink cartridge maker

[Jackens Blog] Manufacturer like Epson now put small chips inside the cartridges that both makes difficult for others to make cartridges that work with Epson printers, and also makes it harder to refill them. And the cartridge stops working with more than 10-15% of the ink remaining, because of Epsons calculation of how much there is left.

After reading comments posted on the GripeLog, I decided to look up my original rebate info (I keep a folder) and found that the retailer's receipt/rebate form did indicate (in the "terms and conditions" section) that it would be a Visa Debit card, and that it would expire within a year (wording is similar to this pdf version of the promotion).
